February’s Coastal Graphics Athlete of the Month is Emily Owens of the women’s basketball team.
Owens, a 3rd year guard from Fredericton, NB helped the Tommies go 4-0 in February, as they sit atop the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association standings with one game left in the regular season.
Owens averaged 12.8 points, shooting 56% of the field and 70% from beyond the three-point line, to go 4 rebounds and 2 steals per game.
“Emily has been fantastic for us all season, and especially since the return to play,” said Fred Connors, head coach of the women’s basketball team. “She has been scoring at a high pace and defending with energy and passion. Her greatest contribution has been her increased leadership and how vocal she is on the floor and in practice. She is a high energy player and is giving us a lot right now.”
