Tommies Golf Gearing Up for ACAA Championships

The St. Thomas Tommies are gearing up for the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association golf championships this weekend at Holland College.

Heading into the championships, the Tommies are looking to catch the University of New Brunswick and Holland College who have proved to be this year's top teams.

"I honestly believe we have a team that's capable of having a player or two in the top ten individual rankings," Tommies head coach Ed Jeffrey said.

Jake Lloy, a third-year golfer from Windsor, NS, will lead the way for the Tommies and will be looked to for leadership on the course. Fifth-year players Nick Brown and Douglas MacFarlane are also expected to produce good results for the Tommies, and Morgan Matheson—who has returned to the team after a one-year hiatus—set a Tommies record with his score of 77 at the Mactaquac Golf Course earlier this fall.

Dual-sport athlete Jonah Burridge, Todd Legere, and Brandon Pierce, last year's top golfer, round out the Tommies team.

A good showing at the ACAA tournament will help boost the Tommies confidence as they prepare for the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships October 17-21.
