Tommies Edge Seawolves in OT to Finish Second at Ken Gould Invitational

The St. Thomas Tommies edged the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves 83-82 in overtime in their final game of the Ken Gould Invitational Tournament. 

Dylan Gallant led the Tommies with 23 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Justin Grant added 17 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Tommies player of the game Mitch Claybourn chipped in with 15 points, five rebounds and six assists.

The Seawolves were paced by Will Legere, who had 18 points and 18 rebounds for a double-double. Hunter Gray added 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The teams were evenly matched, with the Tommies holding a meager three-point lead after the first half. The Tommies extended their lead in the third, but a lopsided 24-14 fourth quarter score in favour of the Seawolves kept the game tight.

The end of regulation came down to a final play, but Seawolves guard Keegan Gray hit a contested three-point buzzer beater to force overtime. 

The five-minute extra frame also came down to the final seconds, with Tariq Thomas laying in a rebound off a missed fast break lay up to give the Tommies the 83-32 win. 

The Tommies finished second in the tournament and were awarded two all-stars, which were given to Gallant and Claybourn.
