Tommies Drop 71-63 Decision to Blue Devils

The St. Thomas University Tommies droppeed a 71-63 decision to the University of King's College Blue Devils in ACAA men's basketball action Saturday night at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

Justin Bhangoo paced the Blue Devils with 22 points and 14 rebounds, while JJ Wilson added 20 points.

The Tommies were led by Travis Valanne, who broke out for 23 points off five-for-five shooting from beyond the arc. Dylan Gallant added 14 points and Mitch Claybourn chipped in with 11.

The Blue Devils jumped to a 16-14 first quarter lead and stayed in front, holding a 31-27 advantage at the break.

The Tommies turned the tables in the third quarter--thanks to some solid outside shooting--and took a three-point lead into the final frame.

The Blue Devils went to work inside in the fourth and the undersized Tommies struggled to get stops against their size. The Blue Devils took the lead late in the game and held on for their first win of the season.

The Tommies, who drop to 0-2 with the loss, are back in action tomorrow when they host the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics. Game time is 2:30 pm.
