Tommies Bested by Mystics

The St. Thomas University Tommies drop to 0-3 on the season after falling 85-65 to the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics in ACAA men's basketball action Sunday afternoon at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

The Mystics came out strong and held a 22-15 lead after the first quarter. The Tommies hung around, but were trailing 12 at the break.

The Tommies brought renewed energy in the third and found some success inside but weren't able to contain the Mystics, who poured in 27 points in the quarter.

The teams exchanged hoops in the fourth and were evenly matched--they both netted 15 points in the final frame--allowing the Mystics to ride their lead until the final buzzer.

Derek Norris led the Mystics with 19 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Brayden White added 18 points and Duan Fournier chippied in with 12.

The Tommies were led by Jakeb Urquhart, who connected for 16 points.

The Tommies are back in action next weekend when they travel to Truro, NS, to take on the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus Rams.
