Tommies Fall 66-57 to Chargers

The St. Thomas University Tommies fell 66-57 to the Crandall University Chargers in ACAA men's basketball action Friday night at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

It was back and forth in the first half, but a 21-point second quarter gave the Chargers a slim 33-28 lead at the break.

The Chargers came out strong in the third and created some separation, converting on Tommies turnovers and drawing fouls. The Tommies kept their composure and chipped away at the Chargers lead by creating extra possessions off their defence and capitalizing in transition.

The teams traded baskets early in the final frame, but the Chargers never relinquished their lead.

Thomarcus Nix sparked the Chargers with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Brandon Fields added 17 points and 10 boards in the win.

The Tommies were led by Sam Drummond, who connected for 14 points, and Travis Valanne who tallied 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
