Tommies Fall 99-48 to Hurricanes

The St. Thomas University Tommies dropped a 99-48 decision to the Holland College Hurricanes in ACAA men's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

The Hurricanes jumped to an early 26-13 lead, but strong shooting from Dylan Gallant and Travis Valanne coupled with a fast break layup from Mitch Claybourn helped the Tommies close the gap early in the second quarter.

The Hurricanes countered with some timely triples and reestablished a comfortable 49-29 lead at the break.

The Tommies started the third quarter on a 6-0 run, but the Hurricanes pounded the ball inside and capitalized on their size advantage. They outscored the Tommies 50-19 in the second half on route to their fifth win of the season.

Travis Adams had a game-high 17 points to go along with 13 rebounds for the Hurricanes. Chase Bowden and Jayden Nordin each had 13 points in the win.

The Tommies were led by Dylan Gallant, who connected for 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Sam Drummond chipped in with nine points.
