Tommies Edge Seawolves 65-58 in Final Home Game

The St. Thomas University Tommies held the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves to four points in the third quarter on route to a 65-58 win in ACAA men's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

The Seawolves outscored the Tommies 18-15 in the opening quarter and held a 34-29 lead at halftime. 

The Tommies offensive outburst in the third was led by Travis Valanne, who netted eight of his 15 points in the frame. As a team, the Tommies shot 46 percent from the field coming out of the break compared to the Seawolves 13 percent. 

UNBSJ put up a 20-point effort in the fourth, but it wasn't enough. 

Mitch Claybourn led all scorers with 18 points, while Dylan Gallant added 13 and Sam Drummond chipped in with 12. 

The Seawolves were paced by Hunter Gray, who poured in 14 points. Steve Ryan and Liam Sipkema contributed 11 points apiece.
