Tommies Men's Basketball Tap Toronto Talent again by signing Tre Campbell

Tommies Men's Basketball Tap Toronto Talent again with announcement of Tre Campbell's commitment to STU.

Tre Campbell, a 6'3 point guard from the centre of the Canadian Basketball universe, is joining former teammate Vincent Lyttleton in Fredericton to don the Green & Gold in 2022-2023.

The upcoming J. Addison Prep school graduate will be heading to St. Thomas to pursue Sociology.

After a pipeline from Ottawa that saw Michael Otoo, Geoffrey Lavoie, Almin Dervisevic and Ted Braden land in New Brunswick's capital, the Tommies could see a new flow of players coming from Ontario's capital region.

"Vincent told me nothing but positive things about the program and I had a great conversation with Coach Hickey and Assistant Coach Dom Laviolette," mentions Campbell in his decision to land at STU.

Tre will look to bring his ability to score, create plays and bring leadership and likes what he saw from the Tommies in 2021-22.  After watching lots of STU Basketball, he could see the brotherhood amongst the team members.

"Coach Hickey from what I've seen and heard is a great coach, and we have a similar approach to the game, " adds Campbell.

For Coach Hickey, having familiarity in the back end of the court will be a bonus to the squad looking to claim the ACAA title.

“We’re really excited to have Tre on board. He really fits with how we’re trying to play at STU. Tre’s a big athletic guard who can get downhill and shoot the 3. He’s someone that loves to play in transition and he defends with passion.

With upcoming departures to the team, the squad will need to retool for a championship run under a new model.  "I really think that Tre is going to fit in nicely with our group.” touts Coach Hickey.

Tre is the first recruit announced by the Tommies Men's Basketball team with more announcements to come.
