Tommies Welcome Return of Ted Braden

   Transfer Alert

Tommies Men's Basketball Head Coach John Hickey welcomes back big man Ted Braden after short sting at Algonquin College.

The 6'7" post player from the Nation's capital joined his hometown Algonquin College Thunder for the 2022-23 season after playing for the Green & Gold for 3 years.

Braden has been accepted into the prestigious Education program at St. Thomas University and will don the Green & Gold again and patrol the hoop.

In his return, he will look to bring experience from the OCAA and leadership to the younger players.  "On the court, the ACAA faithful have seen that I will protect the rim, provide inside scoring and making plays to convert opportunities for the Tommies," mentions Ted.

Coach John Hickey is excited at the prospect of a big presence in the paint and experience.  "Being a recipient of the Francis Farrington Memorial Award and National Scholar, while being asked to commit to our style of play, speaks to the character and work ethic Ted brings day in and day out."

Ted has consistently improved over his CCAA career, that was also marked with the pandemic cancelled 2020-2021 season which led to only exhibition play.

In 2021-22 with the Tommies, he notched an averaged of 9.1 points per game and with Algonquin in 2022-23, he had 11.2 points per game.  Notably, he is known for his presence around the glass where he was 3rd in the ACAA for rebounds with 8.1 boards per game, while last season in the OCAA he was 4th with 9.4 rebounds per game.

"I can't wait to get back to Fredericton and help the program claim the ACAA banner," adds Braden.

Ted is the latest member to join the 2023-24 STU Men's Basketball Tommies, along with Cole Crouse.

The 2023-24 ACAA Basketball schedule will be announced in May and Season Passes will be on sale in August, along with Training Camp starting in September.
