The St. Thomas Tommies fell 56-8 to the UNB Ironmen in Maritime University 'A' rugby action Friday night at Scotiabank Park South. 

The Tommies fielded a battered lineup, with five key players sidelined due to injury. Several young players stepped in with quality minutes, but tackling became an issue.

At half time, UNB led 41-8. 

Alex Thompson was a bright spot for the Tommies, scoring his first try for the green and gold and had several good carries. Mike Irvine added a penalty goal for the Tommies in the loss.
