Men’s Soccer Adds More Local Talent - Dylan Breau Commits to the Green and Gold

The St. Thomas University Tommies men's soccer team has added another Fredericton District Soccer Association standout to its roster.

Dylan Breau, a graduate of Fredericton High School, will join the Green and Gold on the pitch this fall and will bring size and strength to the team's backline.

"I like to use my size and strength to win ball battles," Breau said. "I will bring my very best to the STU Soccer Tommies in terms of work ethic, compete level, and effort."

Breau attended Hillside School in Marlborough, Massachusetts, from 2012-14 and during that time captained the varsity soccer team. He was also given the Coach's Choice Award and Most Valuable Player honours. In 2014-15, he transferred to Hebron Academy in Maine and played his third season in the New England Prep School League before finishing his high school years with the FHS Black Kats.

Breau has also competed with the New Brunswick U18 provincial soccer team and last year was a member of the FDSA U18 squad that captured the Soccer New Brunswick championship.

Tommies head coach John-Ryan Morrison is committed to recruiting athletes with a winning mentality, and Breau is no exception.

"We want to recruit winners and Dylan has experienced winning provincials and attending nationals," Morrison said. "That big game experience will help push the rest of the team as we aim to improve on our results from last season."

Breau decided to continue his academic and athletic career at St. Thomas because he believes it's the best place to prepare for his future career and develop as an athlete.

"I thought it was the best for me academically relative to my career goal of getting into the RCMP and athletically relative to my continued development as a player," Breau said.

"I really like coach Morrison and the direction the soccer team is headed here."

With the addition of Breau, Morrison has brought in five new recruits for the fall—the largest Tommies men's soccer recruiting class in recent years.
