The Tommies men’s soccer team have found a keeper in the form of Luke Ewen to come in and compete for the starting job in the fall of 2020.

From Milton, ON, Ewen has defended the goal for the Mustangs Football Club in his hometown and Tommies’ head coach, John-Ryan Morrison is excited to bring in a player with the mix of talent and character that Ewen brings to his program.

Finding a keeper to compete with Liam [McCann] was my top priority of the offseason and I am very happy to have Luke joining our squad,” said Morrison. “I have been impressed with his professionalism throughout the recruiting process and it’s the little things that I witnessed during his campus visit last fall that I found particularity notable and subsequently earned him an invitation to join the Tommies.

Morrison continued to touch on the intangibles that Ewen has.

Little things like picking up the pylons at training or the respect shown when meeting our women’s team. Some coaches might not notice or care about it, but it's those small things that help you measure the character of someone. Team culture is everything to me and I already know Luke is going to be a great fit.

self-described leader, Ewen drawn to STU because of a couple aspects of the team, and the university itself.

“I chose STU because of the great academic reputation and the community feeling while on campus,” said Ewen. “I was also drawn to the team chemistry and culture. It was unlike anything I have ever seen before.”
