St. Thomas University Tommies Dominate University of King’s College Blue Devils in a Commanding 2-0 Victory

Fredericton, NB – The St. Thomas University Tommies overcame the University of King's College Blue Devils on Sunday afternoon by a score of 2-0.

This match was a clash of two of the top teams in the division, with both trying to maintain their high position in the table. It was also a clash of the top two goalkeepers in the division, and both Luke Ewen (Milton, ON) and Rylan Logan (Tantallon, NS) managed to prevent any scoring in the first half.

The Tommies did not seem worried about the UKC goalie and took the lead in the second half through Shrey Choudhary (Jaipur, IND). Josh Oakes (Kitchener, ON) lofted a ball into box that met the head of Choudhary, who steered it home for the lead. STU coach John-Ryan Morrison was delighted with Choudhary's goal and spoke about his performance after the match.

"We challenged him before the game to take those opportunities when he gets into those spots, and he did, and it's great to see."

The Tommies continued to push on, and their reward came when Adam Loewen (Farmington, ME) played in William Benoit (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu) to score beyond the stretching Logan. Morrison also spoke about how happy he was with his striker scoring off the bench.

"Will's been chomping at the bit to get some playing time, and he rewarded himself with the goal to get the win for us."

The Tommies next match will be on October 11 when they play away at the University of New Brunswick Saint John, while the Blue Devils will host Holland on Friday.
