Blinn Twins, Jones Earn ACAA Volleyball All-Conference Honours

For the third year in a row, the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association men's volleyball Player of the Year comes from the St. Thomas University Tommies.

Stephane Blinn, a fourth-year outside hitter from Nasonworth, NB, was given the nod as the top player in the conference at the ACAA playoff banquet in Truro. Twin brother and Tommies setter Marc Blinn was also recognized as he cracked the all-conference team.

Stephane, now a two-time all-conference player, led the conference in kills and kills per set with 207 and 4, respectively. He boasts a league-leading kill percentage of .256 and was also fifth in digs in the ACAA with 100.

Marc, a former ACAA Player of the Year, was crucial to the Tommies offense and led the ACAA in assists per set with 7.75. He was third in the conference in service aces with 19 and also contributed eight kills, 87 digs, and 18 blocks on the season.

The Tommies finished third in the ACAA this season and will face the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves  in the conference semifinal.

On the women's side, Deidra Jones was the lone all-star from the Tommies. The fourth-year left side hitter from Sydney, NS, was named to the second all-conference team for her strong performance this season, which included 148 kills, 205 digs, and 24 blocks. Her 39 service aces were the fifth most in the league.

The Tommies finished fifth in the conference with a regular season record of 9-12. They fell 3-2 to the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves in the ACAA quarter final.
