Tommies Bested by Seawolves in ACAA Semi

The St. Thomas University Tommies were bested in straight sets by the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves in the ACAA men's volleyball semifinals Saturday night in Truro.

Set scores were 21-25, 24-26, and 22-25.

The Seawolves used their size in the middle and the hot hands of Peter Banks and Luke O'Grady to get an edge on the Tommies, who have competed in the ACAA final the last five years.

The Tommies struggled offensively throughout the match, recording a negative kill percentage in the first and second sets.

Stephane Blinn, the conference Player of the Year, led the Tommies with nine kills and 11 digs. All-Conference award winner Marc Blinn earned Player of the Game honours for his 16 assists and five digs.

The Seawolves were sparked by O'Grady, who connected for 9 kills and 13 digs. Banks added eight kills and six digs.

With the loss, the Tommies finish the 2016-17 campaign with an overall record of 9-7.
