Stephane Blinn Crowned STU Male Athlete of the Year for 2016-2017

Stephane Blinn was named the St. Thomas University Male Athlete of the Year for 2016-17.

The fourth-year hitter from the men's volleyball team was also his squad's Most Valuable Player.

Blinn, of Nasonworth, NB, was named an Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association all-star and the men's volleyball conference MVP. His four kills per set average and .257 kill percentage led the league, and he was fifth in digs with 100.

At the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national chamionships, Blinn was named an All-Canadian—putting him among the top 10 players in the country.

"I've been working hard all year for this, so it's great to see my hard work recognized by STU," Blinn said.

"This has been my season, but I couldn't have done this by myself. I have to give a lot of props to my brother. He's helped me build my game and I helped him build his."

In his time as a Tommie, Blinn earned three consecutive ACAA men's volleyball titles and was a two-time conference all-star.
