Apex Volleyball's Oscar Luk looks to Tommies Volleyball this year

   Recruit Alert

Vanvoucer's Oscar Luk is the newest addition to the Tommies Men's Volleyball resurgence to the top of the ACAA.

The Vancouver Technical Secondary School graduates will head East and will look to crack the starting line-up as a libero for the Green & Gold.

In choosing St. Thomas, Luk was looking for a fresh new pace. He'll enjoy "the smaller classes for the support academically, and will have better connections with students and professors" at the Liberal Arts school.

He'll pursue an Economics degree with focus on business, a pathway that lead to success for program alumnus Adam McDougall and others, as well as Psychology while attending STU.

Oscar looking forward to putting feet on the ground in Fredericton and exploring the Maritimes, while focused on achieving championships with the Tommies.

"The STU program has a very tight community with lots of support," said the Apex Volleyball Club product.  "I love the coach's vision for the upcoming season and pursuing ultimate success at the ACAA and CCAA levels."

''Finding a first-year player who understands the role and responsibilities of a libero is extremely rare but we are confident that Oscar will be able to provide us with a high level of play from day one," said Coach Mallet.

"After seeing Brendan (Murphy) graduating last year, we needed to bring in a libero that would be able to share the work load with Alex Fredericson and couldn't be happier to have landed Oscar. He has the potential to become a top defender in the CCAA''

Luk is the latest recruit along with Thomas Blizzard Tim Juvonen and Kallen Billard as the third member of the 2023-2024 class.
