Tommies Close Out First Half with 80-50 Win Over Seawolves

The St. Thomas University Tommies finished the first half of the ACAA basketball season with a decisive 80-50 win over the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves, Sunday in Fredericton. 

The Seawolves struggled with the Tommies pressure, turning the ball over 31 times in the contest. The Tommies capitalized for 26 points on those extra possessions and added 24 more off offensive rebounds. 

The CCAA no.10 ranked Tommies used a well-rounded attack--every member of the team hit the score sheet--and maintained their lead throughout the game. 

Christina Richardson led the way for the Green and Gold, connecting for 17 points and hauling in 12 rebounds. Carissa McTague added 13 points and 15 boards, while Jayme Hunt chipped in with 12 points and two assists. 

The Seawolves were paced by Allyson McLaughlin, who had 17 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. Kelsey Simon had 10 points and Kathryn Magee had nine. 

With the win, the Tommies improve to 5-2 on the season and sit in third place in the conference standings.
