Tommies Best Blue Devils in ACAA Quarterfinal

The St. Thomas University Tommies bested the University of King's College Blue Devils 68-61 in the ACAA women's basketball quarterfinal Friday morning in Sackville.

The Tommies took an early lead, but the Blue Devils battled back and trailed by only two at halftime.

It was back and forth in the third quarter with the Tommies holding a slim lead over the Blue Devils heading into the final quarter.

Solid on-the-ball defense coupled with a few timely buckets from the Tommies gave them a 10 point lead midway through the fourth. The Blue Devils pressured until the dying seconds of the game, but weren't able to close the gap.

Jessica Patendaude was named the Tommies player of the game, while Christina Brown—who had a solid game in the post for UKC—was given the honour for the Blue Devils.
