Tommies Drop Home Opener to Mounties

The St. Thomas University Tommies fell 64-53 to the Mount Allison Mounties in ACAA women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

It was back and forth in the first half with the Mounties holding a slim 31-30 lead at the break.

A third-quarter run--coupled with strong rebounding--allowed the Mounties to extend their lead, which they held until the final buzzer.

Kiersten Mangold led the Mounties with 20 points and 16 rebounds, while Sarah McGeachy added 12 points and four assists.

The Tommies were paced by Bridget Frazee, who connected for 13 points. Jayme Hunt chipped in with 10 points and two steals.

The Tommies are back in action Saturday when they host the Dalhousie Agricultural Rams at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym. Game time is 1:00 pm.
