Apperson Invited to Hockey Canada's Women's Development Camp

Tommies women's hockey captain Kelty Apperson was one of two athletes from the Atlantic University Sport conference invited to compete at Hockey Canada's Women's Development Camp, August 5-14 in Calgary, AB.

The event serves as a tune-up for Canada's best university players who are looking to solidify their spots on the Canadian women's hockey roster at the 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Canadian Interuniversity Sport squad will play four games – twice against Canada's Women's Development Program, and a pair of contests against Team Sweden.

The players will also be eligible to be selected for Canada's Women's Development Team's three-game exhibition series against the United States, August 17-20 in Calgary.

Apperson, a fourth-year forward from New Hamburg, ON, made Tommies history this season as the first women's hockey player to be named the AUS most valuable player. She was second in league scoring in the regular season, tallying 12 goals and 14 assists in 24 games.
