The Tommies women’s rugby team is pleased to announce their first recruit in their ’22-23 recruiting class, Alexis Falconer.

Falconer comes to the Tommies from Miramichi, NB, having played her high school rugby at Miramichi Valley and her club rugby with the Miramichi Slammin’ Salmon. She has also suited up with the NB U19 Spruce 7s team.

Falconer will join current Tommie and MVHS alumni, Savannah Simon, who just finished her first year of play with the Tommies.

“Playing rugby makes me enthusiastic and my favorite thing is connecting with new girls I get to play with,” said Falconer.

Falconer is the first of a trio of recruits this week; the first three recruits for new head coach, Rebecca Baker.

“We are excited to see what Alexis will add to our program over the next four years,” said Baker. “She is a strong player and is very knowledgeable of the sport. Alexis is vocal on the field and has a strong team-first mentality.”

When it came time for Alexis to choose her post secondary path, St. Thomas was at the forefront for her for several different reasons.

“I chose STU because I knew I wanted to stay close to home but still be able to get an away from home experience. I was looking to take a Bachelor of Arts and I prefer being in smaller classes, and I wanted to continue my rugby career, so STU was perfect for me”.
