Tommies Fall to Hurricanes in Home Opener

The St. Thomas University Tommies fell 3-0 to the Holland College Hurricanes in ACAA women's volleyball action Saturday afternoon at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym. 

Set scores were 25-18, 25-19, and 25-20.

Alice Marques paced the Hurricanes with seven kills, two service aces, and three digs. Emilie Sullivan and Brittany States added six kills each.

The Tommies were led by Megan Mills, who had a game-high eight kills. Jessica Barna added six kills and Deidra Jones chipped in with five in the loss.

Unforced errors were an issue throughout the match for the Tommies, who had eight service errors and a kill percentage of .077. The Hurricanes had more success with their attack--their kill percentage was .266 and they added 11 points off serves. 

The Tommies are back in action tomorrow when they host the defending ACAA champion MSVU Mystics. Game time is 10:00 am. 

The Hurricanes will face UNBSJ in Saint John.
