Deidra Jones, a fourth-year left side hitter from Sydney, NS, is the STU Tommies Coastal Graphics Athlete of the Month for January.

Jones tallied 52 kills, 70 digs, and 21 service aces in six games to help the Green and Gold improve to 5-9 on the season.

Tommies head coach Don McKay said Jones has been a leader for the young Tommies team on and off the court.

"Deidra pushes the girls in our fitness training and leads by example topping most of the categories. She's all about team and has been selfless with her energy to make our team better," he said.

"On the court, she's been strong defensively, diving for balls and chasing them down, and has led or been near the top in serving and hitting."

Jones currently leads the team in kills and service aces, recording 103 and 29 respectively. She's second in digs behind the Tommies libero with 129.
