The St. Thomas University Tommies women's volleyball team has added size, athleticism, and versatility to its lineup with the addition of three new recruits.

Madison Lyons, of Fredericton, NB, Cloée Daigle, of Saint-Louis-de-Kent, NB, and Jenicca Jean, of Nackawic, NB, will join the Green and Gold this fall.

Lyons, a product of Leo Hayes High School, has played multiple positions and will be a strong presence at the net for the Tommies.

"I believe she will make an impact for us right out of the gate," Tommies head coach Don McKay said. "I'm excited to add her to our lineup because she can attack and block, as well as play defense and pass."

Lyons was a member of the New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association 'AAA' championship team at Leo Hayes in 2014-2015, and her under-16 team won gold at Nationals (division two) in 2015. She's been recognized by her coaches with the Best Defensive Player award in 2014, the Most Improved award in 2015, and the Unsung Hero award in 2015 and 2016.

"Madison has good instincts. She's a good athlete that will easily fit in with our returning players," McKay said.

Joining Lyons at the net will be Daigle, a five-foot ten middle from Ecole Mgr-Marcel-Francois-Richard.

Daigle was a member of the Shediac Rebelle under-18 team and in 2014 was part of the Volleyball New Brunswick Tier 2 champion Extreme team. The future Tommie was recently selected to attend the Acadian Games.

"Cloée brings strong leadership, hard work, and a positive attitude to the game," McKay said. "She understands the role of a middle player and will add some size up front for us. She has a strong serve and has good court vision as well."

Rounding out the new additions is Jean, a left side player from the 2016-2017 NBIAA 'A' volleyball champion Nackawic High School Nighthawks.

Her solid defense, strong serving, and timely offense are welcomed additions to the Tommies' roster.

"Jenicca is a fierce competitor. She will be another great addition to our young team," McKay said. "You notice right away she loves defense. I was also pleased to see a few hard attacks from her that the defense couldn't handle or that were in areas not covered by the defense."

Outside of her high school team, Jean played club volleyball with the under-17 and under-18 Reds.

Lyons, Daigle, and Jean join Fredericton's Andrea Young in the Tommies women's volleyball recruiting class of 2017.
