STU Athletics Welcomes New Volleyball Head Coach Kim Colpitts

Fredericton, NB - St. Thomas University Athletics is pleased to announce the appointment of Kim Colpitts as the new head coach of the women's volleyball program. With an extensive background in coaching spanning over two decades, Kim brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the team.

Expressing excitement about the opportunity, Kim Colpitts shared, "I'm thrilled to join the STU Athletics family and contribute to the growth of the women's volleyball program. Building upon the strong foundation laid by the previous coaching staff, I aim to instill a culture of competitiveness and excellence within the team."

With a coaching career that includes roles at various levels, including club volleyball, middle school, and high school, as well as assistant coaching positions at the AUS level, Coach Kim is well-equipped to lead the STU volleyball program to new heights. Notable achievements include coaching the 2021 Team NB Canada Summer Games women's volleyball team and serving as the VNB High Performance Chair (female).

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Kim emphasized the importance of recruitment and development. "Recruitment is a priority as we look to maintain our competitiveness and fill key positions within the team. I'm confident in the returning athletes' ability to provide strong leadership and uphold our culture of hard work and dedication."

In line with the university's vision for athletic excellence, Kim outlined ambitious goals for the volleyball program. "Our aim is not only to excel within the ACAA but to compete at the highest level nationally. By fostering strong alumni and community support and providing our student-athletes with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed, we will strive to elevate the STU volleyball program to new heights."

Athletic Director Meaghan Donahue commented, "We are very pleased to welcome Kim to our women’s volleyball program. She brings a wealth of experience of over 20 years at the club, provincial team, and U Sports levels. Her passion, approach, and coaching philosophy are a great fit for our department. While we are sad to see Don McKay move on from the Tommies, we feel that Kim is the perfect candidate to take over and keep building on an already solid foundation. We are excited to see what Kim and the team will do in the coming years.

St. Thomas University Athletics is excited to welcome Coach Kim Colpitts to the team and looks forward to a successful partnership in the seasons to come.
