Seawolves Stop Tommies 1-0

Saint John, NB – The university of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves (3-1-0) moved into second place in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association standings with a 1-0 victory over the visiting St. Thomas University Tommies (2-2-0).

At the midpoint of the opening half, veteran scoring dynamo, Karlee Duval (Saint John, NB), opened the scoring with a beautiful move down the right side of the field to free up space, took one touch to the middle of the pitch and sent a screamer from her off foot into the top of the net in the 21st minute.

The Tommies came into the match as the league's second highest scoring team, marking 10 goals in 3 matches, but the Seawolves backline, led by veteran keeper, Jillian Smith (Markham, ON), kept them off the score sheet, with Smith totaling 9 saves on the evening.

Next action for the Seawolves will be Saturday, September 24th, when they host the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics (4-0-0), with first kick scheduled for 2:00pm at Canada Games Stadium.
