Women's Quarterfinal Game 1 - Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics (3) vs. Crandall University Chargers (6)

Chargers exit postseason after 65-85 loss to MSVU

The Mystics were dialed in from the tip-off and jumped out early with a ten-point run and never relinquished the lead. Crandall however would not roll over easily, keeping MSVU on their toes and forcing their opponents to keep their starters in the game and not allowing the Mystics to go into the semi-finals unwinded.

The Matchup was contest of two different offences with the Chargers driving the lane and going to the rim while MSVU was content to find the open shooter from beyond the arc.
Alexa Rancourt (Charlottetown, PE) will end her Chargers career with another double-double going 8/14 for 16 points and coming down with 16 rebounds. Rancourt's performance was enough to earn her the Player-Of-The-Game Award for the Crandall Chargers.

Women's Quarterfinal Game 2 - St. Thomas University Tommies (4) vs University of King's College Blue Devils

Tommies Best Blue Devils, Advance To Semi-Final

The St. Thomas Tommies (4th) defeated the University of King's College (5th) 82-60 in the quarter-finals of the ACAA Women's Basketball Championships at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

Vanessa Soffee led the way for the Tommies with 12 points and six steals. Kylee Roi matched Soffee with 12 points of her own, while adding four rebounds.

On the Blue Devils side, Jenna Bain posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 boards. Nalini Maharaj scored a game-high 15 points.

The Tommies and Blue Devils traded points in the first quarter, as neither team could pull ahead. It wasn't until a 3-pointer from Charlee Connors put the Tommies up 17-15, giving STU a lead that would stick for the remainder of the game.

UKC couldn't match the Tommies in the third, scoring just nine points, as the Tommies took a near 30-point lead into the final 10 minutes. A buzzer-beating shot from beyond-the-arc from Tommies' guard Emily Owens (Fredericton, NB) would suck the life out of the Blue Devils.

STU forced a total of 30 turnovers in the game and held UKC to 37.5% from the field. The Tommies shot 37.2% but limited UKC to 64 attempts, 30 less than STU's 94.

The Tommies now have a date with the CCAA's top ranked Mount Allison University Mounties in the ACAA Semi-final tomorrow at 1:00 PM at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics (4) vs. Mount Allison University Mounties (5)

Mounties Advance To Semi-Final With Victory Over Mystics

Noah McCarthy and Will Spaulding went head-to-head in an epic battle between the Mount Allison University Mounties and the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics in the ACAA Men’s Basketball quarter-final on Friday evening.
