The St. Thomas University Sports Wall of Fame is gaining five new members. The new inductees include four athletes and one coach, representing basketball, hockey, and soccer.
This year’s inductees include Ashley Bawn, BA ’13, BSW ’14 (Basketball); Mary Cronin (Soccer); Scott Harvey Jr., BA ’72 (Hockey); Dylan Hughes, BA ’14 (Soccer); and Coach Dwight Dickinson (Basketball).
“Ashley Bawn, Mary Cronin, Dylan Hughes, and Scott Harvey Jr. made incredible contributions to STU Tommies Athletics as players in their respective sports, and Dwight Dickinson is one of the most decorated coaches in Tommies history,” said Director of Athletics Meaghan Donahue Wies. “This is an exceptional class of inductees, and we are honoured to welcome them to the Wall of Fame.”
“These inductees were leaders at St. Thomas, both athletically and academically. On behalf of everyone in the STU community, I want to extend my most sincere congratulations to this class of inductees. We are excited to celebrate them and to add their plaques to the Wall of Fame!”
Over the years, STU Tommies teams and student-athletes have earned 437 CCAA National Scholar and 426 Academic All-Canadian designations, as well as 42 ACAA and 3 AUS titles. With these additions, the Wall will now have 42 members and five teams enshrined. The STU Sports Wall of Fame is displayed at the Grant Harvey Centre and represents a permanent and celebrated part of Tommies Athletics history.
Wall of Fame Dinner - June 21
These individuals will be formally inducted at our STU Tommies Wall of Fame Dinner. The event will take place on Friday, June 21 at the Great Hall, George Martin Hall, STU Campus, 6:00 pm arrival for 6:30 pm dinner.

Meet the Inductees
Ashley Bawn, Basketball
Ashley is one of the most decorated players in STU Women’s Basketball history, playing from 2009-2014. In that time, she was a four-time ACAA All-Conference player and was the ACAA Player of the Year in the 2012-13 season. At the national level, Ashley was named a CCAA All-Canadian in 2012-13, a CCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship first team all-star in 2011-12 and second team all-star in 2012-13. She also earned CCAA Academic All-Canadian honours on four occasions and was a five-time CCAA National Scholar. In Ashley’s time with the Tommies, the team went on a 99-game win streak that included three consecutive undefeated seasons, four consecutive ACAA titles, and a CCAA bronze and silver medal.
Mary Cronin, Soccer
Mary was a Dean’s List student, a CCAA National Scholar, and played keeper for the STU Women’s Soccer team from 2016-2018. In the 2018 season, Mary was a team captain, using her natural leadership abilities and positive personality to help lead the team to an undefeated regular season, an ACAA Championship title, and a CCAA Nationals berth. On the field, she was a fierce competitor and off the field, she was the most loyal friend and teammate. Mary passed away far too young in 2022, but is remembered for her constant enthusiasm, competitiveness, and passion for the sport of soccer. Mary’s legacy includes the Mary Cronin Fredericton High School Memorial Soccer Scholarship as well as the Mary Cronin Memorial Leadership Award at St. Thomas.
Dwight Dickinson, Basketball
Dwight is one of the winningest coaches in Tommies Athletics history. He spent 22 years as the head coach of the STU Men’s Basketball team, beginning in 1993. Over the course of his tenure, he led the team to seven ACAA Championship titles, two CCAA National Championship medals (one silver and one bronze), and was named ACAA Coach of the Year an impressive four times. Dwight’s skill as a coach extends beyond the court, with his ability to connect with players and make them better people as well as better players being his true legacy. He inspired the creation of the STU Men’s Basketball alumni group, the annual Dwight Dickinson Golf Tournament, and the Dwight Dickinson Basketball Award which is awarded annually to a student-athlete who has demonstrated athletic and leadership abilities in the sport of basketball.
Scott Harvey Jr., Hockey
Scott was a star player for the STU Men’s Hockey team for four seasons from 1968-72. Scott was an incredible goal scorer. He led the AUAA (the predecessor to the AUS) in goals in his rookie season with 24 regular season goals scored that year. During his career, he scored 77 goals in 72 regular season games, and averaged 1.6 points per game over his four years. Scott was touted as having the hardest shot in the league – in fact, he had one goal that was only counted after a stoppage in play when the officials realized the shot had actually gone past the goaltender and right through the net! Scott is a member of both the Fredericton and New Brunswick Sports Halls of Fame.
Dylan Hughes, Soccer
Dylan is one of the most impactful players in the history of STU Men’s Soccer, having made his mark from 2009-2013. A true leader during those years, he is the first from the men’s soccer program to be inducted to the Wall of Fame. During his years at STU, he was a two-time ACAA first team all-star and a two-time ACAA second team all-star, as well as a four-time CCAA National Scholar and Academic All Canadian. Within the institution, Dylan was named Rookie of the Year in his first season, was the team Most Valuable Player in 2012, and captained the team for two seasons in 2012-13. Dylan has since returned to the STU Men’s Soccer team as an assistant coach, to continue his leadership and impact on the program.
