Miramichi's Ian Watters looking to make a splash with the Tommies this season

The 6'1" guard from Miramichi Valley High School who spent 2 seasons with the UNB Saint John Seawolves, Ian Watters will join the new look Tommies for the 2019-2020 season.

Transfering to STU made sense for Watters: "I was looking for a change and St. Thomas is the right fit for me to pursue my academics as well as continuing my basketball career."  In 2017, Ian and the MVHS Pulamoo captured their first NBIAA 'AAA' Boys Basketball Championships along with current Tommies Volleyball standout Garret Dickson.  "I will look to add hard work ethic and commitment to the program that coach Hickey expects from his student-athletes with the goal of contributing to a successful team."

Coach John Hickey adds another piece to the puzzle in returning the Green & Gold as an ACAA contender. "Ian is going to bring big game experience to our group.  He's played in some high pressure games and made big shots when asked. He will bring composure, consistency and a work ethic that is second to none - on and off the court."

Make sure to join the new-look Tommies during the annual Ken Gould Exhibition Tournament October 18-20 at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.  The Ken Gould is including in our Season Pass package - register now at the O'Keefe Fitness Centre or call (506) 460-0315.  More details on our Alumni deals and Early Bird Registration, check out https://www.gotommies.ca/fan-zone/tickets
