Lavoie Named CCAA All-Canadian

Friday evening during the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association’s basketball awards banquet two St. Thomas University Tommies men’s players were honoured for the regular season performances they had this year.

2nd year forward Geoffrey Lavoie (Ottawa, ON) was named a CCAA All-Canadian and 1st Team ACAA All-Star while teammate Almin Dervisevic (Ottawa, ON) was named a 2nd Team ACAA All-Star.

Lavoie had a breakout season for the Tommies leading them in scoring (16.8 points per game), field goal percentage (56.9%), three point field goal percentage (41.7%) and steals (1.7 per game) as they finished third in the ACAA.

“Geoff is a great team player and I’m happy to see all the hard work he puts in being acknowledged around the league,” said Tommies head coach, John Hickey. “He is growing into a strong leader for us both on and off the court.”

Dervisevic, also in his second year with the Tommies, saw a jump in his shooting percentages and his play making, as he averaged 5.6 assists a game (1st in the ACAA).

“Al has a very high basketball IQ and great court vision,” said Hickey. “He works hard in all areas of the game and is a part of the building the foundation of our success this year.”

Holland College’s Jordan Holness was named the other CCAA All-Canadian as he was named the ACAA MVP. He also took home ACAA Defensive Player of the Year.
