Cameron Evans Commits to STU Tommies for 2024-25 Season

St Thomas Tommies are gearing up for next year already, Coach John Hickey, is adding his first recruit for 2024-25 season. Cameron Evans, a forward from Fredericton,NB is joining the Tommies program.

Evans chose to commit to STU as he grew up attending STU basketball games and had always thought of how cool it would be to someday wear the uniform. Evans who has played for Fredericton High School and Team NB U17, feels excited to join the program.

"Having the opportunity to play in front of my family and hometown was an important factor in my decision. I found STU’s reputation and small class sizes appealing as I make the transition from high school to university".

Evans will be pursuing a bachelor of arts followed by a bachelor of education at St Thomas University.

"Beyond grit and determination, I feel that I bring a balanced game on both offence and defense. Having had the opportunity to represent NB at the U17 Nationals in both 2022 and 2023 and winning a Provincial title last season has given me experience playing at a high level. I feel that my overall style of play fits well within STU’s system.

Cameron has a background helping youth basketball and plans to continue doing it while he attends university.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to play for such a successful program. It was important for me to join a program with a history of winning and the potential of winning. Back-to-back championship finals appearances as well as back-to-back Coach Of The Year Awards for coach Hickey have made my commitment to STU an easy decision.
