Fredericton, NB - STU Tommies men's basketball team opened their season on a high note, defeating the UNBSJ Seawolves 81-72 in a hard-fought home opener at the LB Gym.
After dropping a preseason match to the Seawolves, the Tommies were determined to set the tone from the start, taking the first quarter 28-23.
UNBSJ responded with a strong second quarter, edging out the Tommies and heading into halftime with a 40-34 lead.
The game remained close throughout, but the Tommies found their rhythm in the final quarter to pull ahead and secure the win. Noah McCarthy was named Player of the Game for his impactful performance, helping the Tommies seal the victory.
The Tommies will aim to carry this momentum into their next matchup on November 2nd against Crandall.
