Tommies soccer program is very happy to announce their second transfer recruit to their busy offseason. Lucas Joel is a transferring to the Tommies after one year playing in the OUA, with the Algoma Thunderbirds.

“Lucas had 11 appearances including 7 starts last year in the OUA and I think he is going to be a great addition to our squad,” said Tommies head coach JR Morrison. “I have to credit our recent recruit Brayden for introducing Lucas to our school and soccer program when he was thinking about a change in environment.”

“He is exactly the type of player I have been looking for to take over the creativity in attack for the middle of the park after some key departures during the offseason. We are completely transforming our team this offseason and I think Lucas is really going to turn some heads. He is someone we can build around for the next four years, so I am excited he choose STU for his education and soccer development.”

Like many of Morrison’s recruits it wasn’t just the soccer program that enticed Joel to come to Fredericton.

“I choose STU because they have great academics, access to amazing student services and small classrooms which will help me focus on my schooling,” said Joel. “I have done my research and know coach Morrison to be a serious coach with a winning mentality.”

When asked what he would bring to the Tommies Joel was quick to respond with, “I will bring a different dynamic to Coach Morrison’s play style with my very quick decisions on and off the ball, my ability to keep possession and ability to find the back of the net.”
