The St. Thomas University Tommies men’s soccer team continues to load up for the 2020-21 season by adding winger Matthew Hitimana of Scarborough, ON.

“Matthew was probably the biggest surprise of our January invite camp and the whole squad and myself are pumped to have him on board for the next four years,” said Tommies head coach, John-Ryan Morrison of Hitimana’s performance. “I had liked what I had seen but after getting to see him play with some of his future teammates against some top U Sports players, it was an immediate YES for me.”

Morrison added that Hitimana checked all the boxes when it comes to what he looks for on a campus visit from prospective athletes: polite, friendly, competitive and fits in well with the team.

Hitimana says he will bring “leadership, work ethic and commitment to the Tommies.”

“I chose STU because of their tight knit community,” he said. “Getting an opportunity to play soccer at the university level while also obtaining a great education, is a blessing. I was very pleased to see the team’s chemistry and how inclusive they were.”
