Logan Ormond follows suit to join Soccer Tommies

The STU Men’s Soccer program is happy to announce its tenth recruit of this offseason in local product Logan Ormond.

Logan will continue the Ormond name in a Tommies uniform, after his sister's Olivia graduation from the Education program and a 5-year stint of a 2-sport student-athlete in Soccer and Volleyball.

The incoming keeper is very familiar with the campus and its sports offerings.  "I chose St. Thomas University is because it's a great institution that offers many courses that interest me. It will also allow me to take my soccer career to the next level."

Backstopping the Tommies in his backyard might be a formidable task, but Logan is up to the challege.  The OHS Grade 12 student mentions that he will bring "determination, consistency, dependability, commitment and my ability to play the ball out of the back" next season in the ACAA.

Coach John-Ryan Morrison is continuously working on rebuilding his squad after a cancelled season, and keeps adding pieces that will flourish on campus and at the pitch.  “I am very happy that Logan has committed to joining the Tommies as he checks a lot of the boxes I was looking for in my final keeper recruit for this offseason.

Having tended the twine for the OHS Blues's first ever AAA NBIAA Soccer Championship, it demonstrates "he has a history of winning, and he is comfortable playing the ball out of the back, he is a good shot stopper." adds the bench boss.  Furthermore, "he comes in with a very good academic standing. The fact he is a local player who knows my coaching style is a bonus for sure.”

A year off from high level competition won't slow down the Picaroons Reds product. “Logan is working really hard this offseason to be ready to take the next step in his soccer career and I am looking forward to seeing him work with our keeper coach Adam Grant and challenge Luke and Liam for starting opportunities.”

Logan joins the recruiting class of Fall 2021 which includes Josh Kuehl, Isiaiah Rowinski, Takin Marvasti, Matteo Neves, Will Benoit, Zachary Zoellner-Krauss, Ben Davidge, Nicholas Reis and Moman Adbul
