Soccer rebuild continues with addition of Matteo Neves

Name: Matteo Neves
Soccer Club: Winstars Soccer Academy
Hometown: Nobleton, Ontario
Position: Attacking Mid
High School: Bill Crothers Secondary School - Transfer from Algoma University

Coach John-Ryan Morrison continues to receive commitments leading into next year's ACAA season, pending Covid-19 with the announcement of his 6th addition to the 2021 squad - Matteo Neves of Nobleton, Ontario.

Matteo will land on STU campus at summer's end in 2021 with the expectation of "a great education that St. Thomas will offer while being able to further my athletic and academic career."

The Algoma Thunderbirds transfer of the OCAA is excited to grow his skill set under Coach Morrison.  "He has the same passion for soccer that I do and I am looking forward to the intensity at training camp and to battle for a starting spot."

Coach Morrison mentions that "I am excited to bring someone of Matteo’s passing ability, work ethic and determination to be successful into our mid and I am already very excited for training camp to see the level of competition for starting spots in the middle of the park next fall." The skip adds "competition for spots will bring a high level of intensity to training, which will help our whole team develop, which should translate to wins on the weekend."

That bodes well for Neves who graduated from Bill Crothers Secondary School.  "I will bring a creative dynamism to the midfield while looking to set my teammates up in the best possible positions to continue our attack."

Matteo joins Will Benoit, Zachary Zoellner-Krauss, Ben Davidge, Nicholas Reis and Moman Adbul who have committed to the Men's Soccer program for the 2021-2022 season
