Fredericton, NB – The St. Thomas University Tommies scored in the 11th minute of their match against the Crandall University Chargers and never looked back on their way to a 9-0 victory.

Chidubem Nkoloagau (Burnaby, BC) opened the scoring in the 11th minute before Takin Marvasti (Victoria, BC) sent a beautiful cross to Lucas Joel (Courtice, ON) to make it 2-0. Less than a minute after that, Josh Oakes (Kitchener, ON) scored on the half volley. Marvasti would cap off a brilliant first half by screaming down the left wing, cutting towards goal and firing a rocket into the bottom corner.

"He's an outstanding player, and we are so lucky to have him," said Tommies' head coach, John-Ryan Morrison about Marvasti. "He has a bright future for us for sure."

Rounding out the first half scoring was Joel with his second of the match in the 27th minute and William Benoit (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC). Joel pushed for the hat trick late in the half, and had it not been for an outstanding diving save from Chargers' keeper, Noah Miller, he would have had it.

The second half saw Joel turn from scorer to facilitator, as he found David Armstrong (Prince Rupert, BC) early on off a set piece and Armstrong headed it just under the bar. Rounding out the scoring for the Tommies were Ravtej Singh (Fredericton, NB) and Ryan MacKinnon (Fredericton, NB).

"First half we played great," said Morrison about his team's play. "Basically everything we have been working on clicked in the first half. It can be hard to be motivated for the second half up 6-0, but I thought they recovered well and finished strong."

Liam McCann (Chiliwack, BC) and Logan Ormond (Oromocto, NB) split the clean sheet.

Neither team will have to wait long for their next game as the Tommies host the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics on Saturday, and the Chargers will get the Holland College Hurricanes that same day.
