Calgary, AB – The St. Thomas University Tommies are set to face the NAIT Ooks in the bronze medal semifinal of the CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship.

The Tommies lost a hard-fought battle with the Douglas Royals last night under the lights at SAIT, while the Ooks won their do or die game with the Brandon Bobcats.

These two teams faced off in the 2018 CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship, with the Ooks coming away with a 7-0 victory. Tommies’ assistant coaches, Eric Prior and John Hunter, were players on that team, and they haven’t forgotten that game.

“They are a team that we have played in the past,” said Hunter. “We are comfortable beating them. The competition is definitely there and its going to be a physical one.”

The Tommies are coming off their first loss of the season, and with such a young team that can be a tough mogul to overcome.

“I think the boys will come out hungrier than they have in the past two games, and put on a show for the fans that have travelled this far to see us and the fans back home who are watching,” added Hunter.

The Ooks sport the ACAC North Coach of the Year in Charles O’Toole, the ACAC North Player of the Year in Christian Lima, and ACAC North All-Stars; forward Ousman Maheshe, midfielders Lima, and Chris Gakona and defender Javier Cassie.

The game is set for 3:00pm MST and can be streamed at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ccaasportsacsc/
