Tommies Hang on for Narrow 1-0 Win

The St. Thomas University Men's soccer team played out a narrow 1-0 victory at Grant Harvey on Sunday against the Dalhousie Agriculture Campus Rams.

John-Ryan Morrison, STU head coach, was full of praise for his team for their efforts to win the game and also gave credit to DAL AC for making the game difficult for his team.

"DAL AC always give us a difficult game as they always do but we got our points and we got a lot of players out there."

The result was important for STU heading into their next game against the Holland College Hurricanes, as both teams are currently fighting for second place in the ACAA standings.

Morrison was aware of this and hopes that the result on Saturday will be good momentum for his team.

"We got the points and hopefully they are really looking forward to the game against Holland tomorrow."

Brett Springer (Bamberg, ON) proved once again to be the difference maker for the Tommies as he headed in a stellar pass from Samuel Choiniere (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC). There were some half-chances for both teams but neither goalkeeper was frequently tested throughout the game.

STU remaines undefeated heading into their match with the Hurricanes with a 5-0-1 record. The Hurricanes are 4-0-1. The team's only draws came against eachother on Sept. 11. The Rams are now 1-4-1.

St. Thomas will host Holland on Sunday in their next game while DAL AC will take the trip to Saint John to face the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves on the same day.
