Dutch recruit Elias Stiphout to bring international experience to STU

STU Men's Soccer Coach John-Ryan Morrison has landed a European recruit to add some international experience to his squad.

Elias Stiphout from Leiden in the Netherlands will join the program that will look to defend its ACAA title from last season.

The attacking midfielder is looking forward to play in Canada and compete for a program that went undefeated in league play and competed at CCAA Nationals in 2021.  "After speaking with the coach, the style of play and the philosophy behind it, I was convinced STU is the right fit for me." mentions Stiphout.

Having developed in the Dutch system, Elias will: "bring technical abilities and insights to help the team play at a high level."  The goal is to return to the top of the ACAA and compete at the CCAA Nationals.

Coach Morrison is excited to add Elias as our next recruit to our exciting 2022 recruiting class. "I've been focused on finding more attacking threats for the middle of the park and Elias' technical ability and creativity will bring just that. "

"We had a great year last year but we need more depth in scoring if we want to win back-to-back banners, and Elias has the quality and vision to help take us to the next level".

Stiphout is the 7th recruit for the Men's Soccer program, joining Avery Webster, Alec Wells, Nathan Bellemare, Jason Scott, Luca Foianesi and Matthew Oprea.

The Tommies Soccer teams will open their 2022-23 season on the road when they play the DAL AC Rams in Truro on Saturday September 10th at 4:15pm.
