Tommies Land Montreal Standout Laurent Lambert
Name: Laurent Lambert
Hometown: Montreal PQ
Program: RMPUS
Position: Winger
It didn't take long for St. Thomas Tommies head coach John-Ryan Morrison to make up his mind on Laurent Lambert - after five minutes of watching the Montreal winger, Morrison knew he had to get him in the green & gold.
"After five minutes of watching Laurent at a showcase in Montreal last summer, I turned to a colleague beside me and said, I want him at STU," Morrison said. "Fast forward seven months and to be able to confirm his commitment, is great news for the program."
Lambert has been training with Riberio Moojen Pre-University Soccer, a program in Quebec which offers some of the brightest young stars an opportunity to play in international tournaments and showcases to gain exposure to university coaches. During the showcase in his hometown, he proved to Morrison he was ready to take the next step.
"Laurent is fast, strong, competitive, has been training at a high level with RMPUS, and I know how excited he is to be here," he said.  "I cannot wait to see him dominate the wings for the next four years."
Lambert said not only is he looking forward to the Tommies' winning culture, but excited for the programs offered by STU, fitting his academic needs.
"I chose STU because it has a great soccer team and excels in my academic program. The education level is very high at STU and that is what I was looking for and will push me as a student athlete," Lambert said. "I am going to bring hard work, passion and lots of heart to the Tommies.  I cannot wait to be a part of the program."
