Fredericton, NB – St. Thomas University continued their unbeaten start to the season by defeating the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves 2-0 on Wednesday evening.

The Tommies were playing at home for the first time this season and they did not disappoint the home fans. Tommies coach, John-Ryan Morrison, was aware of the crowd's impact and was happy the team put on a good display for them.

"I think it was the home cooking for us. We took it to them for most of the game and we're happy to get the three points."

The game was a physical match with both teams receiving red cards. It did not take long for Lucas Joel (Courtice, ON) to score off a corner kick and put the Tommies ahead. The Tommies were later awarded a penalty after Josh Oakes (Kitchener, ON) was fouled in the penalty area. Elias Stiphout (Leiden, NED) stepped up but failed to convert the penalty.

The Seawolves were not able to threaten the St. Thomas net regularly during the game. It took substitute, Chi Nkoloagu (Burnaby, BC), to finish off the game for the Tommies. It was a glorious, team goal that ended UNBSJ's chances of coming back into the game.

"Being able to bring somebody like Chi off the bench is awesome and I'm really happy with the guys' effort today," Morrison said after the match.

The Tommies next match will take place at Grant Harvey Field on Saturday when they take on DAL AC at 3:15pm in the Mary Cronin Memorial Gameday. The Seawolves next match will also be on Saturday when they host Holland College.
