Tommies preserve unbeaten record with 6-0 win over Rams

Fredericton, NB – The St. Thomas University Tommies thrashed the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus Rams with an emphatic 6-0 win on Saturday afternoon at Grant Harvey Turf Field.

The Tommies went through a rollercoaster of a match. They missed a handful of chances in the first half and captain, Josh Oakes (Kitchener, ON), missed a penalty after he was brought down in the box. Oakes had the last laugh as he scored two goals in the first half. Laurent Lambert (Terrebonne, QC) got himself on the scoresheet as well as Gray Cyr (Ottawa, ON) who got his head onto the end of a free kick. This was the first Tommies goal for both Lambert and Cyr.

The Rams did not trouble the Tommies goal during the first half and the same happened in the second half. The Tommies extended their lead with goals from William Benoit (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC) and Bright Olaoni (Woolwich, UK). This was Olaoni's first goal for STU as well.

"I think it's always good when we can see goals coming from different players. We got our first goal from Gray Cyr in the ACAA and we got goals from both of our strikers, Will and Bright, so to put in six total is never a bad day," STU goalkeeping coach, Kevin Snee, explained after the match.

The Tommies next match will take place on Sunday when they host the Holland College Hurricanes. DAL AC's next match will also take place on Sunday when they take on the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves in Saint John.
