Fredericton, NB - STU Tommies began their soccer season with a 2-2 draw against the University of King's College (UKC) Blue Devils at Grant-Harvey Field.
The Tommies took an early lead, Brett Springer from a penalty kick scored at min 4'. The first half was intense, with both teams battling hard, but STU held onto their 1-0 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, the Tommies came out looking to extend the advantage. Their persistence paid off when Elias Stiphout scored a brilliant free kick in the 64th minute, extending STU's lead to 2-0.
However, UKC refused to back down. Luke Kotaska scored in the 76th minute, giving the Blue Devils hope.
As the match neared its end, UKC continued to press, and in the 90th minute, Rowan Houlihan delivered a heartbreaking equalizer, leaving the game tied 2-2.
Final score at Grant Harvey Field was 2-2.
Elias Stiphout was named Player of the Game for his standout performance.
