The Tommies had a strong start to the 2016-17 season, opening the campaign with four consecutive wins and holding a 4-1 record at the break.

In the second half of the season, the Tommies struggled. They dropped three of their first four matches on route to a 9-6 record and a third place finish in the ACAA standings.

The Tommies were led by the Blinn brothers—setter Marc and outside hitter Stephane—while also getting solid contributions from fifth-year Francis Sirois, rookie Nathan Brown, second-year Ryan Dickson, and libero Jonah Burridge.

In the ACAA semifinal, the Tommies were in tough against a solid UNBSJ Seawolves squad. The Green and Gold were toe-to-toe with them the entire way—set scores were 25-21, 26-24, 25-22—but they couldn't close out a set and fell 3-0.
