The St. Thomas University men’s volleyball team is excited to announce the addition of Thomas Blizzard to the program for the 2023-2024 season.

Blizzard, a 6’1 outside hitter from Fredericton, New Brunswick, joins the program after a successful career in the New Brusnwick club circuit, as well as a season with the UNBSJ Seawolves.

As a member of the Spartans Volleyball Club, Blizzard won a 2021 NB provincial championship and helped the Spartans to a 13th place at Volleyball Canada Club Nationals in 2022. That same year, he led the Leo Hayes Lions to a NBIAA championship. While he shined in the capital city, Blizzard also had the opportunity to represent New Brunswick at the 2022 Canada Games.

Tommies Head Coach Henri Mallet is enthusiastic about landing a player with a winning resume.

“We’re excited to land another player who can fight for a starting position. (Thomas) Blizzard has won some accolades at the local level and we are positive he can bring that spirit, not only in games but at every practice and in the weight room.”

In his rookie season at UNBSJ, Blizzard tallied 84 kills, 8 aces and 65 digs.

He hopes to elevate his game in his second season of ACAA play.

“As someone who is undersized at 6’1, I need to be strong in all aspects of my game. I am ready to thrive in high-pressure situations and help STU win an ACAA championship this year, regardless of my role,” said Blizzard.

Blizzard joins Tim Juvonen and Kallen Billard as the third member of the 2023-2024 class.
