Canada West Volleyball Club Standout Commits to Tommies
Fredericton, NB - The St. Thomas University Tommies men’s volleyball team is excited to announce the commitment of Canada West volleyball club standout setter, Brody Thorogood to the program for the 2025-2026 season. The 6’1 setter out of Calgary, Alberta helped lead his club team to a silver medal at the 2024 Alberta Provincial Championships and had an MVP season with his Rundle College high school team, finishing in 2nd place in the city championships.
Tommies Head Coach Henri Mallet is excited to land a player of Thorogood’s caliber and looks forward to watching his progression over the next four years. “With the departure of our veteran setter Tim Juvonen, we needed a setter who can step in and help make an immediate impact in practices and off the bench. We are confident that Brody will have a long, fulfilling career in the green and gold, and we see a lot of success in his future,” said Mallet.
Thorogood’s goal for his first year is simple: learn. “I am super excited to be joining the STU volleyball program this fall, and as a first-year collegiate player, my goals are to learn as much as I can from the older players and apply some of their knowledge to my current game,” said Thorogood.
“I’ve been extremely fortunate to have had some amazing coaches over the last few years that have taught me not only the finer mechanics of setting but also the importance of strong game IQ and mental resiliency, and I think these will be assets I can bring to STU’s already strong program.” Thorogood is the third recruit from the 2025-2026 class, joining middle blocker Evan Mosley (Calgary, Alberta) and outside hitter Sebby Villeneuve (Bedford, NS).
