Tommies Fall 66-61 to Mystics at Ken Gould Invitational

The St. Thomas University Tommies fell 66-61 to the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics in their first game of the Ken Gould Invitational Tournament.

Kate Gallant and Maria Carroll led the way for the Mystics with 12 points each, while Marika Williams added 11.

Jayme Hunt sparked the Tommies offense with a game-high 14 points and Jessica Patenaude chipped in with 10.

The Tommies came out strong, jumping to a 20-15 first-quarter lead. A full team effort on both sides of the ball allowed the Tommies to stay in front 30-27 at the break.

The Mystics found their stride in the second half, but it wasn't until the fourth quarter that they took the lead--thanks to 56 per cent shooting from the field.

The Tommies generated offensive opportunities in an attempt to close the gap, but they weren't able to capitalize.

Sara Banks was named the Tommies player of the game.
